Dr. Hemida received his Ph.D from University of Guelph, 2009. He pursued his PDF training at the the University of British Columbia (James Hogg iCapture Centre). His research area of interest is “One Health Concept” with special emphasis on emerging viruses/host interaction. Currently, studying the molecular evolution and pathogenesis of MERSCoV in the Middle East. He published more than 40 original Research papers on high impacted journals. Meanwhile, he received several Research grants, prestigious honors and scholarship throughout his academic carrier. Currently, he is a reviewer of many granting agencies as well as editorial board member of many international journals

Dominic Targema Abaver has completed his Ph.D.at the age of 40 years from University of Abuja in parasitology; He is chief superintendent of Immigration Nigerian Immigration service, a paramilitary organization in the ministry of interior. He has published number of papers on HIV/AIDS, Immunology and parasitology in reputed journals, such as African Health Science, Pakistani Journal of Medical sciences, African Journal for Physical, Health Education, Recreation and Dance (AJPHERD). He is a member of Nigerian society of parasitology and a fellow, Institute of Cooperate Administration. Currently, D.T. Abaver is a Contract Researcher at Walter Sisulu University, Eastern Cape, South Africa. His research interest include Epidemiology of HIV/AIDS and other Opportunistic Infections; Preventive measures/techniques of HIV/AIDS; gender, age and sexual orientation as determinants for the impact of HIV/AIDS

HIV/Aids

Girish J. Kotwal, received his Ph.D. from the Biochemistry department, McMaster University, Canada in 1985. He did his post doctoral work at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, MD, USA in the Laboratory of Viral Diseases from 1984-1990 and co-discovered the vaccinia virus complement control protein (VCP) along with Dr. Bernard Moss, member of the US National Academy of Science (NAS). During the 90s he established a structural biology program which included overexpression of VCP, a heavily disulphide bonded protein and directed the preclinical program to evaluate the therapeutic potential of VCP. In 2002 he founded Kotwal Bioconsulting, LLC, in 2004 he founded kbiotech pvt. ltd., in South Africa, in 2005 he co-founded InFlaMed Inc. in USA. In 2010 he assisted in founding Icelandic Cardio Pharma (IceCP) in Iceland. He is currently Professor of Biochemistry and Microbiology at UMHS, WI, Adjunct Professor of Medicine, UMass medical school, Worcester, MA and Adjunct Professor of Traditional Chinese Medicine at Henan University, China. He has authored over 100 publications, 97 of which are found on pubmed.

Marcin Sieńczyk graduated from the Molecular Biotechnology and Biocatalysis program in 2002 at Wroclaw University of Technology, four years later he obtained his PhD in Medicinal Chemistry. In 2015 he was awarded habilitation (DSc) in Biotechnology. He currently holds the position of assistant professor at Wroclaw University of Technology, Division of Medicinal Chemistry and Microbiology. His research is focused on the development of low molecular weight compounds designed to target proteases involved in the pathogenesis of various diseases including cancer, bacterial and viral infections. Work in his laboratory also generates antibodies to be used in the development of new diagnostic assays for human diseases. He is a co-author of more than 40 papers, 14 patents and more than 25 pending patent applications.

Walter Doerfler has completed Munich Medical School (LMU), Doctor of Medicine thesis in Anatomy and Internships in Munich and Trenton, NJ, USA. He did his Postdoctoral studies in Molecular Genetics at the Max-Planck-Institute for Biochemistry in Munich and in the Department of Biochemistry, Stanford University Medical School.

Sita Awasthi has received her Ph.D in Biochemistry from Devi Ahilya University at Indore, India and her postdoctoral training from University of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia. Currently she is a Research Assistant Professor at University of Pennsylvania, Pearlman School of Medicine, Infectious Disease Division. Her research interests are HSV-2 vaccine development against genital herpes disease and HSV-2 HIV-2 co-infections. She has published numerous research articles and serving as an editorial board member of Journals of antivirals and anti retrovirals, Journal of Immunoassay and Immunochemistry.

Professor Ting-Chao Chou received MS degree in Pharmacology from National Taiwan University College of Medicine; Ph.D. from Yale University, and Postdoctoral Fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Joined Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), became Member 1988-96, and a Professor of Pharmacology at Cornell University Graduate School of Medical Sciences, 1988-2000. He is Honorary Professor at Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Beijing and five other universities. He focused in the new drug discovery as the Director of Preclinical Pharmacology Core at MSKCC, where he retired on June1, 2013. Prof. Chou introduced the “Unified Theory of the Median-Effect Equation of the Mass-Action Law”, and with Prof. Paul Talalay (JHU) in 1984, created the “Combination Index Theorem” for multiple entity dynamics. For one article alone (Chou TC and Talalay P., Adv Enz Regul 22:27-55, 1984), cited by 3,218 articles published in 599 biomedical journals and has become one of four the most broadly cited theoretical articles by journals of all time. Chou's dynamics equations and theory has been extended to illustrate the ancient Chinese philosophy and to advocate Econo-Green Bio-Research. Virology

DC Tang is the Founder of VaxDome LLC and Vaxin Inc. He was a pioneer during the development of DNA vaccines, noninvasive skin-patch vaccines, adenovirus-vectored vaccines, and the protective innate-adaptive immunity duo platform technology. He was selected as a Distinguished Overseas Scientist by the South Korea KOFST Brain Pool Program; subsequently joined Chung-Ang University and International Vaccine Institute in Seoul; and was appointed as a Scientist at IVI after the Brain Pool Program Award expired in 2013. He founded VaxDome LLC in Birmingham, Alabama, USA in 2014 and moved the company to Dallas, Texas, USA in 2015.

C. Yong Kang has completed his PhD from McMaster University in Canada and post-doctoral training at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He served as a Professor of Virology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Professor and Chairman at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine, and Dean of Science at the University of Western Ontario. He has published 137 peer reviewed research papers and 151 scientific proceedings and abstracts. He holds nine international biotechnology patents. He received numerous awards including the Ho-Am Prize in Medicine. He is a Life-time Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada Academy of Science. He serves as a reviewer for eight international journals.

His research in molecular virology includes the development of viral-specific antiviral therapeutic agents and efficacious vaccines against various human viral diseases including AIDS, hepatitis and hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome.

Jonathan Leis is a leader in the field of replication of retroviruses. His laboratory has played important roles in defining the mechanisms of reverse transcription, viral DNA integration, proteolytic processing, and virus assembly. He also created the nomenclature used to describe retrovirus specific proteins. He is a Professor of Microbiology & Immunology and former Executive Associate Dean for Research for the Feinberg School of Medicine. He has published 127 peer review manuscripts including many in Nature Communications, Cell, Science, and Proceedings National Academy of Sciences. Preventing Enveloped Virus Release from Cells by Targeting Budding Complexes

Dr.Zenab Torky is an Assistant Professor of Microbiology in the department of Microbiology, Faculty of Science, Ain Shams University, in Egypt. She also worked as a Visiting Scientist in the department of Biological Sciences, University of Louisville, USA. Dr.Zenab has also reviewed and edited many papers for the Food Safety Journal, and participated in two projects with members of the Remold laboratory in University of Louisville, to study the nature and conditions of adaptations of vesicular somatitis virus to a cancer cell line, using molecular biology techniques like genome sequencing and phenotypic characterization of recombinant viruses, to design oncolytic viruses that kill cancer cells, and sampling, genotypic and phenotypic characterization of Pseudomonas bacteria species isolated from human homes, and their pets.

Dr.Zenab’s main research interest is finding a way to protect living cells from viral infection, by studying ways to strengthen the immunity of the host by using natural compounds like antivirals, and studying their effect on viral replication

amal El Sawaf is a Professor of Microbiology and Immunology Medical Research Institute, Alexandria University, Egypt. He is a nationally recognized leader in infectious diseases. He was graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University in 1979. He has obtained his PhD in 1993 and his Post Doctor training course in the Laboratory of Infectious Diseases (Cattedra Di Clinica Delle Malattie Infettive) University of Rome, Tor Vergata. He was appointed as the Head of Microbiology Department in 2008 and the Director of the Medical Technology Center in 2010 and finally, the Dean of MRI. His main fields of research activities are in the clinical aspects pathogenesis and therapy of HCV, HIV and HHV-8 infection and epidemiology and molecular characterization of hepatitis viruses in Egypt. He has acted as a Referee for a variety of national and international scientific journals and as a Referee of research projects of the Alexandria University and of the STDF projects. He is a Member of the American Society of Microbiology, The Egyptian Society of Microbiology and Egyptian Society of Immunologists. Dr. Nossik Nikolai N. Graduated from Moscow Medical University, physician. PhD (1960), Doctor of Science ( 1988), professor (1990). In 1968 - 1973 the WHO expert in SEARO (India) on national and international projects on virology and epidemiology. Main activity was connected with poliomyelitis in India and afterwords was conducted to enteroviruses in South-East Asia Region (India, Nepal, Burma, Thailand).In 1975 as a visiting scientist was doing the research study on oncornaviruses at the National Institute of oncology ( Fort Detrick). In 1976 and 1978 as visiting scientist was involved in the study on interferons (ISERM program) in Paris, France.Main scientific interests - antiviral and virucidal preparations, interferons , immunomodulators. Associate Professor Shubhada Bopegamage, MSc., PhD is a Virologist currently heading the Enterovirus Laboratory and the National Reference Center for Identification of Enteroviruses at the Medical Faculty of the Slovak Medical University in Bratislava, Slovakia. Her work is focussed on the pathogenesis and diagnosis of enteroviruses. She received her BSc. Microbiology degree from Pune, India and MSc. Microbiology degree from Mumbai, India. She got her PhD in Biological Sciences from the Academy of Medical Sciences, Moscow, Russia. She is known in the Enterovirus research since 2005 for her work on the in vivo experimental coxsackievirus oral infection of mice. She is involved in research and teaching and has guided several MSc. and PhD students. She has co-ordinated and has lead several national and international projects as a principal or co-investigator.

Dr. Olga S. Latinovic is an assistant professor working at the Institute of Human Virology (IHV) led by Robert C. Gallo, M.D. at the University of Maryland, School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD, USA. Her research focus is on developing novel antiviral therapy strategies using various HIV entry inhibitors, with a particular focus in understanding antiviral synergistic activity and its mechanism between CCR5 antagonists and CCR5 antibodies extensively collaborating with Dr. Robert R. Redfield, MD. Dr. Latinovic wrote the book Micromechanics and Structure of Soft and Biological Materials, and published by Verlag Dr. Muller in 2010, and co-authored the book Handbook of Photonics for Biomedical Engineering published by Springer-Verlag in 2016. By using enzyme-kinetic and inhibitory analyses, pioneered in revealing TCDD-induced CYP1B1 (FEBS Letters, 1987). Invented the recombinant and TCDD-induced microsomal and isolated monooxygenase isoforms CYP1A1 and CYP1A2, to study regulatory effects of bioflavonoids on procarcinogens metabolism in humans (BBA, 1994). Since the discovery of trans-activation effect of TCDD on HIV-1 (BBRC, 1991), have established Xenobiotical Virology, a biomedical discipline dealing with mechanisms of dioxin effects on DRE-containing genes of human viruses, transcription factors and cytokines linked to inflammation and malignancy pathways.

Giulio Filippo Tarro, male, graduated summa cum laude from Medicine School of Naples University in 1962. Assistant to Medical Pathology at Naples University, 1963-1965, and Research Associate at Division of Virology and Cancer Research, Children’s Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio, 1965-1968, he was assistant professor of Research Pediatrics, College of Medicine, University of Cincinnati 1968-1969, and professor of Oncological Virology at University of Naples 1972-1985. He worked for National Research Council, Rome, 1969-1972, and for National Cancer Institute, Frederick Center, Maryland, 1973. He became Division Chief of Virology 1973-2003, and then Department Chief of Diagnostic Laboratories, 2003-2006, D. Cotugno Hospital for Infectious Diseases, Naples; Emeritus, 2006 -. Dr Tarro's researches in Virology have been both basic and mission oriented. His basic researches have been concerned with antigens induced early during the replication cycle of human herpesviruses. Another study has involved the identification, isolation and characterization of specific virus-induced tumour antigens, which were the "finger-prints" left behind in human cancer. His mission-oriented research has dealt with many aspects of various infectious diseases including broncho-pneumonia, encephalitis, cholera, and the diseases caused by different viruses. Achievements include patents in field; discovery of RSV virus in infant deaths in Naples and of tumor liberated protein (TLP) as a tumor associated antigen, 50 kilodalton, overexpressed in lung tumors and other epithelial adenocarcinomas.
